Big Changes Afoot

A little life stuff:

This Monday, I’ll be moving down to Oceanside to live with my girlfriend, Kelly. We were just approved for this great little one bedroom that’s a block away from the beach. It’s the next big step in our already fantastic relationship, and I know we’re going to have a lot of fun here.

I put in my application for backcountry permits at the Grand Canyon. This April, I hope to hike across the canyon and back over the course of five days. I’m hoping I didn’t get the permits in too late as this was a somewhat recent decision, and most people pounce on permits the second they become available. I’m sure I’ll get some kind of permit, and it will be the trip of a life time.

I resume school on Tuesday, February 7th. I’m pursuing a Masters in Counseling, specifically working in Marriage and Family Therapy. I’ll be driving up to Sherman Oaks to take classes at National’s campus there. This will also afford me the opportunity to take a few more epic hikes in the Santa Monicas – Wendy Trailhead to Sandstone Peak, Boney Trail + Mishe Mokwa, Sandstone Peak from the beach, backpacking in Santa Anita Canyon with another go at Mt. Wilson – before I focus my hiking mainly in San Diego and Orange Counties.

Finally, I transfer to a new Trader Joe’s on Monday. It’s the least of these changes, but it should be fun to meet some new people.

Good stuff!
