Scott is the co-author of the 5th edition of Afoot and Afield San Diego County with the late Jerry Schad. Scott’s work on the book involved re-hiking the entire 4th edition, as well as adding 50 new routes. Scott adding over 100 new photographs and revised the text, acting as a steward to a well-loved hiking guide rather than taking it and making it his own. This labor of love reveals the unexpected wonders of one of America’s most diverse and rewarding landscapes.

Scott has also contributed more than 250 hike descriptions for Modernhiker.com, the West’s most-read hiking website. This is where Scott got his start, and he’s very proud of what he’s contributed to a website he has enjoyed for nearly a decade.
