About

Scott Turner still can’t believe he gets away with it. Since 2012, he’s hiked an average of 1,000 miles per year. All of that dirt-stomping paid off when he started writing for Modernhiker.com, the most-read hiking blog in the American West. Mere months after that, he proposed a full revision and update for Jerry Schad’s hiking guide masterpiece, Afoot and Afield San Diego County.

Now as the co-author and steward of Jerry Schad’s classic, Scott set his sights on a trio of new hiking guides for Mountaineers Books. His entries into their new Hike the Parks! series includes treatments on Joshua Tree National Park, Zion & Bryce Canyon National Park  – out now, and his beloved Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks – due out April 1st, 2020.

When he isn’t hiking, writing, writing about hiking, planning hikes that he can then write about, or planning to plan hikes, he works as a Marriage and Family Therapist, raises his greatest joy, his son Hank, and loves life with his wife Kelly in Carlsbad, California.
