1000 Miles

My name is Scott, and I’m an avid hiker. In 2012, I have set the goal of hiking 1,000 miles. This blog is intended to track my progress towards achieving this goal. During the course of this blog, I’ll also share tidbits that I find interesting, bits of news from my own life, bits of news I feel are important, timely, funny, or interesting, trail reviews/guides, music that I have produced or written, or anything else that I feel like posting.

In other words, this is a document of what I do this year, and probably the next few years when I really get that wild hair and shoot for 1,500 or 2,000 miles.

I hope you enjoy it.

  1. Can't wait to read about the hikes! How/what do you use to track the routes/mileage? You're inspiring me to set a goal and really go for it this year! (Not nearly as many miles as you but…)

  2. Hi! Sorry, guess I have the comment notifications off. And four months later, he says. . .

I use a combination of old-fashioned maps, google maps (for trails that show up, mainly double-track), the everytrail app for my iPhone, which tracks GPS, guide books, and trail signs to get distance.

    Hope you're out hiking!
